HOLY FUKEN HELL!!!!!1

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

:mad::mad: GRR - MAD KITTY!!! :flame:

JayRob, dude u always have sumthin enlightening to say. andie, u too. havin read the start of this thread and then all the posts on here really kicked me in the ass and turned on a light or two. yeah, if Ian thinks hes gonna be rid of the Cult by saying that, then fuck him too. cuz if hes gonna be like that, then i wont be around to hear/tolerate it cuz that aint cool. i know hes fickle and all, but still! Billy just rocks to no end, so i got nuthin to say about him (hes not the one that made the comment). and u know what? i feel kinda dumb too for listenin to the music too if its all a bunch of crap. it was always sumthin i could run to for help/solice/escape/whatever, and now that just ruined it for me. im just filled with this sinkin feeling (and no im not hungry either) and i dont like it one bit. i just find this unsettling for some reason, i dont know why. this is just, oh, how can i say.......................BULLSHIT!!!!!!! god this makes me so hot :flame: i know they might kiss and make up and what not, but still there was no need to say that (whatever the real remark was). if it wasnt for us and Duffmeister, hed prolly be just another fallen star. and yeah he does owe us - BIG TIME!

and b.star - i go second!!;)

We've all said things while we were mad, that we didn't mean. We shouldn't get worked up over it, and start saying things we don't mean, or will regret later. Ian and Billy have given us a lot, we should be greatful for what we've gotten;):)

What NO-ONE seems to have touched on is that The Cult IS Ian, it IS Billy. People go on about "this album is more Ian" or "This album is more Duffy" but it comes down to the fact that every song, no matter what era/album, has two distinct streaks through it, two psyches if you will. The Cult was great not from individual talent, but from the melding of two quite different ideals, which, for some unknown reason, seemed to work.
They will have their differences, but what remains, past or present, is some absolutely mind-blowing work which should in all rights go down in history.
If Ian decides that the Doors are his future, then so be it and more power to him for making a decision. Billy, being the unbelivably talented musician/guitarist (not I listed musician first) will find a way through the mists that WAS the Cult and go on to be great, regardless of age.

If, on the other hand, they DO reconcile and reform the Cult, then EVERY one of us here knows in our heart of hearts that it will not be permanent. That kind of artistic conflict, although may produce great work, can never survive for long. They will create art worthy of praise and remembrance, but nonetheless, will end at some juncture.

Lets stop the conjecture and embrace what they HAVE done, and if in future they do more together, then lets cherish the fact that they wrote something more to add to the memories.

Anyways, I've done enough rattling on, I'll shut up now. I'm kinda drunk

I'm sorry, but your post is very offensive. I do not recall seeing any recent posts or articles indicating that Billy has said a word in public against Ian, or the Cult. I know the last conversation I had with him he did not attack either, or act as if the group was no more.

I am not even going to respond to the rest of your comments. They are just not worth it. I don't know why people have to try to act like they know everything about the band. Reading a few interviews and meeting them after a show does not make any of us experts on the subject. No one but Ian and Billy know what they really think.

Welcome to the board Pandora. You find my post offensive? Nice first post by the way. Before you rip me apart like that, maybe you should actually read my post again and realize that it is all speculation. I am assuming thats what is happening/happened. Am I not entitled to a point of view? Jeez, i'm not like half of the posts here saying "fuck Ian if he says .....blah blah blah The Cult". I'm pretty sure I am entitled to a point of view on the situation after what I"VE contributed to Ian & Billy's pocketbook. I along with Wizard, Sidewinder, JayRob, SonicSpirit, RedVelvet, LuvAstbury and every other "fan" (sorry if I missed anyone) have every right to voice their opinions.

Good luck with this board. You really know how to make friends.

Shesellssanctuary - I hope you're right ! :) Man, if you are, let's say, a kind of PR to the guys, DO YOUR JOB AND INFORMS ACCURATELY GOD DAMIT !!!

Andrew - No one here is neglecting what they have done. The lack of attention is REAL, it is not especulation. YES , we especulate because we CARE ABOUT THE BAND, otherwise we wouldn't give it a rat's ass.

Pandora - Same information to you as above, AND, you really should know better than attacking someone that is just adding his two cents.

I continue to state that Ian and and Billy should give their fans a litlle , minimum attention and give it an OFFICIAL WORD about The Cult. That's all.

well now ... once my head stopped spinning from reading this rather lenghty thread, here's my two cents:

first of all, when the hell has either Ian and/ or Billy really ever communicated with the fans except for on stage? So no communication from the two of them is nothing new really ...

as far as getting Ian and Billy involved with this or any other website, they were involved with CULTnet, and that was only updated maybe a half dozen times in 2 years, so what would be the point in that?

as far as Ian and his "Fuck the Cult" comment, he and Billy have had a falling out every couple of years: during the entire "Peace" fiasco/ another during the "Electric" album and tour/ "Sonic Temple" album and tour Ian & Billy weren't speaking to each other again/ the disowned "Ceremony" album, and if memory serves me correctly Ian and Billy were rarely even in the studio at the same time during the making of that record/ again after the 1994 record Ian split ... do you notice a pattern developing here? it seems like after most Cult records Ian and Billy go there seperate ways for a little while, Ian says he's done with The Cult, and then a few years later he and Billy are back. so again this really isn't anything new here either ...

I hate to say this but maybe Ian thought of saying that as a publicity stunt of sorts, to get the people on Cult message boards talking, which is exactly what has happened ...

I don't think Ian's involvment with "The Singing Grampa's" a.k.a. "The 21st Century Doors" will last much further than this one record and tour. If Ray and Robbie try to do this again, I think people would have that "been there done that" kind of mentality/ response, and it would go over like a lead balloon a second time. This is a one shot, one time only deal.

lastly, and I know I'm going to get a lot of crap for this one, but I wouldn't get very excited about shesellssanctuary's allegation of an upcoming Cult concert. He's made these kind of veiled comments before and has made no attempt to back any of them up with anything. Granted, he's in a Cult cover band but so what? As we've already gone over here, Ian and Billy don't communicate with the fans very often, so why would they talk to him? He's just trying to sound cool, trying to make it seem like he has some kind of "inside information", or that he knows Ian and Billy personally, thinking that it impresses us. Don't believe him for a second ...

no more excuses shesellssanctuary: TELL US WHAT YOU SUPPOSEDLY KNOW OR ADMIT THAT YOU ARE FULL OF CA - CA. No more esoteric comments like "you'll just have to wait and see" or one word responses like "trust",
PROVE ME WRONG AND TELL US WHAT YOU SUPPOSEDLY KNOW OR SHUT THE HELL UP AND PROVE I'M RIGHT ...

and this is my 100th posting ...
yippee

DAMN....did i do this?...

i seem to remember that i was the poor sucker who announced that the Cult were splitting up in Dec 2001...

i also seem to remember asking IAN about Crass...

now i'm here again...

what...if anything has been forthcomming from these posts?...

well if you actually had any input on the cultnet message boards than i guess you'll know that i'm not everyones fave poster...i prolly have as many enemies in the cult camp as i do have friends...

but above all else...when the bullshit is thick...and lets face it...the bullshit on here can get extremely thick...only a few voices whispering in the darkness hold the truth...

what you guys have to do...is figure out who that is for your selves...

finally...don't all get mad and pissed off...this is just like Homer said...it's the process...it's what happens/happened to Ian and Billy all the time they have been in a sucessful band...

if they make another record...so be it...personally...i ain't gonna hold my breath...the time for the Cult is past...lets praise the body of work that we have from them already...how many other bands from the 80's can hold their musical heads so high with diversity and clarity in each of their albums?...

shit...enough already...

From Velvet night came forth our torch burns eternal,
For time is but a dream and our mischeif be infernal,
Black Angels watch over neglecting the living but not the undead,
Blessed are the hallowed and gracious for their blood shall keep us fed,
Hark the electric thunder drawn like moths to a flame,
To a place of wicked wonder...and Hollywood be thy name.

I have to agree with Homer on this one. The pattern thing for sure. We don't know what is going on between them...so how can we just guess? He's pissed at Billy for some reason...who knows what. Maybe its legit. Its their bizness. Don't know about anyone else...but I won't give up hope. Let's not turn this into the bashing and crap that was the Cultnet...ok? :(

Err...Andie : You started this so it is all your fault :P:P:P:lol:

If Homer (d'oh) is right and Ian said that awful thing to get us all started and talking he GOT IT !!! :flame::lol::lol:

LedDenny - As I said before, optimism is welcome ! :)

I'll stop here. I made my point. The band and all that it represents is AWESOME AND REVELANT, and althought I enjoy The Doors and what is going on right now I'LL NEVER consider it more important than The Cult's work. AND The Cult is far far away from fuck itself! ;):P:cool:

Bad, bad Dog...Anyway, I agree with Homer and it is also my theory that Ian is keeping us on our toes. We also don't know what had been going on recently between Ian and Billy---they seem to spontaneously fight and then patch things up. I really think this whole thing has been taken out of context. Ian seems to be a moody artist so we can expect this. We just have to be patient like we have always been since the Cult is so unpredictable. Ian has to do what makes him happy for the moment and I support him in whatever he wants to do now or in the future. I have a feeling Ian will eventually reconcile with Billy. Whenever the Cult gets back together (which has been numerous times) Ian always says it's because of the fans. Since it seems as though many fans have expressed a fervent desire for the Cult to come back, I am sure Ian will think about that and when he misses the Cult, he will think about how happy it will make us all. What Ian does is not just artistic expression, but the Cult is/was a job. Ian is allowed to take a break from a "job" that he has worked for 20 years...I am proud of Ian--I mean, the Doors (well, the two old fossils, The Two Grandpas..whatever you want to call them) chose IAN!!! I mean, I think that kicks ass! (As long as it doesn't last forever...) Besides, if Ian ends up doing a solo album (I hope he doesn't shave his head again) he does so for himself and the fans--I doubt he makes a lot of money from it. In any case, whatever happens, I will deal and be happy. I am sure we will heave a big sigh of relief when the Cult reforms sooner or later....

Wow, this thread IS long. I think Homer's got it right, except I somehow DOUBT Ian
cares about what we say on the Cult message board. Maybe, he is just sick of all the Cult fans asking him when, when when , will will will The Cult be back and wish we would care more that The Doors go on successfully since he's INTO The Doors now.

he's into the doors now and cult fans are going to doors shows !

b.star. You are right! I just think he might be tired of it. If you were doing something new that you were all into and then your friends only asked you of your last project, wouldn't get tired of their questions? Wouldn't you want to talk about your NEW project?

I was talkin to somebody who knows Ian & Billy, he said everything is cool. Ian said Billy was a great guy and Billy said Ian can tour with The Doors as long as he wants, he'll always be there for him. They are still in love and there will be a new album, tour, t-shirts. Its all good, L O N G L I V E T H E C U L T .

Hey Ed, that sounds good ... you are not cheating us so we stop the ramble here, are you ? ... :P:P:)

B.Star - It is natural for CULT FANS to want more stuff from the music that MOVES THEM SO MUCH IN EVERY SENSE.

Ok, when I get home I'll blow my sound's speakers with their 1999 Avallon Ball Room show...talking about SINGING good music ... :)

No-one is saying you did Jules. Chill girl, its almost humorous now, looking back. The lads should be honoured that they have such passionate fans. The slightest little misconception here, misguided quote there, and the shithouse goes up in flames. Everyone must admit, it has been the most exciting thread in months....
