Cult love songs.....
i love this band so much--but have u noticed how there are not many love songs in their music.
the closest is love trooper. i LOVE this song--and then there is Love....that song can be a love song-and painted on my heart-but ofcourse they did
not write this one-
any others?

... am I the only one that remembers "Sweet Salvation" from the disowned "Ceremony" album? That was about as close to a love song as The Cult have
ever gotten ... and hopefully they'll keep it that way :D

Everything Tthe CULT has produced has been a Love song with messages of Awareness and (mostly) Peace.
Right?
I have hoped that Ian and Billy would do an acoustic-only cd of 10 new songs.
Just the 2 of them and an Indian carpet, some incense and an 8 track recorder.
Not Dead Leopard or Bonny Jovie type shit,., but Saints Are Down, The River, Bleeding Heart Graffiti type songs.
I have always believed that the CULT is best when Ian isn't screaming to match Billy's hard licks, and Ian takes a more dignified, poetic stance.
But thats just MadMad Me,.,,.,.

Yes that is true MMMike, but I don't consider those songs and those types of songs to be "love" songs. Thoughtful and well thought out, at times
introspective, but not "love" songs.
To call them love songs makes them sound like the standard "Oh I love you so much/ please come back/ why did you leave" kind of crap. The same type of
ca - ca that Leppard has put out (which killed their career), Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, Mariah Carrey, the Backdoor Boys, any one of a number of "coss
over" country music singers etc have released recently ... do we really want to put songs like "Moya", "If", and "The River" in the same category with
those songs? That's why I don't consider Ian and Billy's songs to be "love" songs, except "Sweet Salvation", which I now have stuck in my mind, over
and over again, since I refered to it here a few minutes ago ...

Guess Ian / Billy redefined what I consider a 'Love' song.
I'm proud to say that I've never been a fan of commercial music and have always gravitated toward college radio and 'hear-say' / underground stuff
from places like the Heavy Metal Shop in Salt Lake City, and word of mouth from people-who-know.
There was a thread something like "what else do you listen to" here some time ago,., and most everyone posted the all-to-obvious Led Zep / Poison /
Ratt stuff. That was very telling.
I got some good leads for new sounds from the few folx that are 'different' in their music collections.
I am not all fired up for the new Metallica.
I won't buy Limp Bizkit or Linkin Park.
Rock rock til you drop.
How the hell are you anyways, Homer?
Did you make any of the Florida shows?
