The Doors 21st Century
I have to say, that before IAN joined them, I never really ventured into their music. But they REALLY are an excellent band. Yeh- I am slow.
But the eerie thing is how IAN fits in SO perfectly. Their music is GREAT and he is the PERFECT person for this band.
It seems that IAN has great taste in projects. Everything he works on is so fantastic.
What a magic touch.

Believe me RAG I've had to bone up on The Doors music myself. I thought Morrison was sexy but that was as far as my interest went...so when Ian
joined I wanted to understand why Doors fans and Cult fans were so pissed off at each other.
I think Ian has either won over die hard Doors fans or if you can't beat em....join em.
Also lately on the Classic radio station here in Memphis they have been playing much more Doors music...stuff I've never heard before. Hopefully that
will get the promoters to bring the new Doors to Memphis.

I remember The Doors when my parents were listen to them and I really loved this music when I was a child. In someway I was brought up with Doors'
music.
But I realised how much I love them when I visited Jim's grave for the first time
Now when Ian joined The doors I can't express how much I love both bands (mean Cult and Doors)

I had never heard much by the Doors, other
than the hit songs. Until i listened to
some Doors materials as well as the 21st
Century Doors, i didn't realize what great
musicians Robbie and Ray are. The Doors had
always been just J.Morrison. Now i know there
was and IS more.
My favorites are Spanish Caravan and
Riders on the Storm (Jim and Ian).

From Velvet night came forth our torch burns eternal,
For time is but a dream and our mischeif be infernal,
Black Angels watch over neglecting the living but not the undead,
Blessed are the hallowed and gracious for their blood shall keep us fed,
Hark the electric thunder drawn like moths to a flame,
To a place of wicked wonder...and Hollywood be thy name.

Summer's Almost Gone
Perfect song for autumn. Reminds of the last sunny, warm days of summer, right before school starts. Knowing the days are getting shorter.

Yes But,.,..,
If it were Scott Stapp or Scott Weiland (or Justin Timberlake even) singing with the same intensity and commitment to Doors music,.,., would you still
feel the same?
Would you go to a show & spend $100 a ticket?
I doubt it.
Ian Astbury could sing front for The Monkees and you people would fall over backwards telling what a great band The Monkees was.
1969 is not 2003.
The 21CDoors is a cover band that is scoring a second 15 minutes of fame.
Great for Ian's bank book; the financial liberation he'll get from this cherade should fuel his desire to get back to making "his" music,..
Terrible for the legacy of Jim Morrison. This great poet has been prostituted by his band mates.

... but MMMike, it's all about the mu$ic, remember?
... and maybe, if Ian's bank account has expanded quiet alot from this "Doors" thing, when he and Billy get The Cult back together again, hopefully
they won't do anymore greatest hits tours!!! We've heard "Lil' Devil" every g*dd@mn night since it came out back in 1987! enough with that one
already! :flame: and "Edie", yeah, Ciao baby is right, no more of that one either ... it's like fingernails scraping down a chalkboard after the
4,000th time they play that one ... They did "Horse Nation" on tour in 2002 what would it take to get them to play "God's Zoo"? ... or "Ressurection
Joe"? ... or "Coming Down (Drug Tongue)"? ...
... and a few weeks ago didn't some body here or over on Cultcentral say Ian and Billy were going to do a Cult gig in an L.A.(?) club later this
fall?

The horse has been dead for the better part of a year now, when will the flogging stop?
I've been a Doors fan as long as I've been a Cult fan. I'm loving the whole idea of Ian getting the opportunity to draw attention to both himself and
the music of the Doors.
I agree that Cult fans are gonna see the new Doors because of Ian. And why not? What's wrong with supporting him if you're a fan? Of course, some
people will only shell out the bucks for Ian & Billy together, and that's fine. And some are gonna pay to see anything that Ian does, no matter the
cost, because they worship the man and he can do no wrong in their eyes, and that's fine too. Freedom of choice.
If Stapp or Weiland were up there instead of Ian, you can be damn sure that I wouldn't have paid what I did to see the new Doors. (Actually I
wouldn't have gone at all if Stapp were doing it, but that's just me.) But Stapp or Weiland fans would have. Then their fans would hopefully be
exposed to music they may have missed the first time around. But Stapp and Weiland didnt get the opportunity, Ian did. All the better for him, and
for us. My guess (but what do I know?) is that there wouldnt have been new Cult music or a real tour even if Ian hadn't taken on something new.
Lets just hope that Ian enjoys what he's doing and can look at it as a positive experience, and then comes back to the Cult. However, I don't want to
hear music fueled by his newfound financial liberation. I wan't to hear music that's fueled by his own feelings and experiences.

read velvet is right
i think if ian wasnt doing the doors he would not have been working on cult stuff.
it seems like that BG&E tour worked him to death.
this tour seems a little more easier on the body-lucky dog that he is-getting to to be a part of something so freakin good-
