Martial Arts
Ian did a bit of kickboxing and has a blue belt in Taekwon-do. I wish I could tell you more about this, but this is all I know.

Cool! Thanks for the info! Currently, I am a big bad White-Belt in Tae Kwan Doe! I haven't decided if I want to continue that style, since I could
care less about winning tournaments or trophies. Lately, I have been obsessed with learning as much as possible about Krav Maga ( And NOT because
J-Lo's big ol' fat ass uses it in one of her dumb movies!) but because it teaches you how to defend yourself against all types of attacks (knife, gun,
chokes, bearhugs, kicks, etc...) STAY SAFE Everybody!!

I have a black in tae kwon do and a purple 2 in Japanese Shotokan, the black I got as a kid,the purple 2 I got at age 33,my next belt would have been
brown 1 and I could have taught beginner white classes but I gave it up,my Sensei always had me fightin men of higher belts because I had bigger
muscles then the guys from bodybuilding,he would say"Debisan, you too big to fight girls" and ofcourse I was the class clown and always went home with
black and blues from the bamboo stick he would hit me with but I think it made me a better person

You are too funny,Fender-man,I practice the Kata's of Shotokan,my favorite is the one where you reach for the mans "whosiewhatsies" and rip em'
off:o
Can't remember the name of that paticular Kata.I got my belt in Tae Kwon-do at age 14,I need a refresher course,it would all come back very
quickly(need the time to do so)The one thing that pisses me off more then anything on this planet is Animal abuse,I lose it totally, especially if I
see it happen before my eyes, other then that i'm a peaceful person.
I really miss taking classes,so every once in a while,I whack myself with a bamboo stick for "old times sake"

Cool Iana!
I was a white belt in Tae Kwon Do, and then got into Goju-ryu Karate through out my teens. When I quit going I was a Green Belt. Goju-ryu and Shotokan
are very similar, if you didn't know. Shotokan is actually the Japanese version of the original Okinawan predecessor Goju-ryu. It is a very intensive
and traditional style, the majority of our classes were conducted in Japanese. Shotokan and Goju actually share and have variants of the same Katas!
Don't remember any ball-plucking katas in Goju, but then again many of the secret techniques in kata are stylized and hidden! I still follow the
Goju-ryu Karate-do Kyokai Newsletters and happenings as their world HQ's are here in my town. I've also half heartedly kicked around getting back into
it for excercise and mental clarity, but the lazieness ends up winning-lol.
here's the link if you're curious-
http://www.goju.com
I said "Elemental" and just then, it started to rain.

Martial arts
Trained in Martial Arts about eight years. Pai Lum Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Kickboxing. Made it up to Blue Belt in Kyokushinkai Karate under World Champion
Kenneth Leeuwin. I was a big Bruce Lee fan. I owned all his books and had my whole room full of pictures of him. Still do a bit of Tae-bo to keep in
shape.
I think the kata you speak about might me Pinan Sonosan.
P.S. Just remembered that Ian owns Nunchaku sticks.

Cool link, thank you Taokow,I did know the two styles were similar, for awhile I studied the origin of Shotokan and yes all our classes were in
Japanese, you had to know it or out came the bamboo stick,at the time I was getting good with my Japanese,it's alot easier then other Asian
languages, you should still do something for it could only benefit you, anymore info, please share

And to the ladies,we all should know some form of self-defence,my karate skills came in real handy 3 times in the last 10 years. One crazy man years
ago decided he wanted to walk with me down a block, being as friendly as I am I said whatever, the second he tried to put his arm around my shoulder he
got the old elbow to the stomach, back fist to the face and his legs kicked out from under him and he sat there flat on his ass, stunned. I know the
importance of self defence,I just wish more women would at least take a class in it,doesn't have to be Karate but some of those self defence classes
have excellent techniques that could come in handy in a real bad situation.

I don't recognize that paticular Kata, the one i'm talking about I believe is called"Heian Godan"
The Kata's of Shotokan:
Taikyoku Shodan
Taikyoku Nidan
Taikyoku Sandan
Heian Shodan
Heian Nidan
Heian Sandan
Heian Yodan
Heian Godan
Bassai
Kwanku
Tekki Shodan
Tekki Nidan
Tekki Sandan
Hangetsu
Jutte
Empi
Gankaku
Jion
Ten no kata omote
I got as far as Hangetsu, like Taokow says alot of secrets are hidden deep in the Katas,I really miss Karate, there are two Shotokan schools in my
neighborhood,I should go check them out:idea:
