B.T.Y.D.
B.T.Y.D. (Bop Till Ya Drop) was an original collection of various artists on cassette that my friend Ray and I started doing for our close friends
around the middle of 1985. Almost everyone who wanted a cassette could get one as there was a double cassette player available. The cassettes were
recorded at my friend Rays place, and they quickly became a favourite among the Goth and Punk friends of ours from Edinburgh’s Underground Club.
After the forth compilation was created (which I still have the original playing in my car today) there was a request from a friend of a friend for
BTYD to be the “before and after” show music for their band (they were called The Green Telescope). Natch! We were in there like Flint! To
everyone’s amazement the bands shows became legendary within Edinburgh, and the buzz grew into a record deal. BTYD was dropped like a hot potato,
so, not to be to down hearted we decided to do a one off blow out club night in Edinburgh University’s Potter Row Student Union. The date was mid
November (actual date is lost in the gaps in my memory) and it was a Saturday Night. People came, tickets sold at the door, and eventually the drink
began to flow. One guy fell and smashed his head through a window, got up, and carried on drinking with out even missing a heartbeat. Later on in the
evening we noticed that the dance floor had large removable tiles which were slowly coming apart. Not to be causing an issue we tried to kick them
back together, we failed, and one of my close friends (Donny) tripped and broke his ankle. The night ended in the A & E department waiting to collect
Donny and take him home.
After our excess BTYD was no more, we had came, we had seen, we’d even bought a few T Shirts, but Ray and I did no more cassettes together. I
slipped down the treacherous slope of rock music following the Cult’s Electric album and side stepped into Industrial crossover. Bands and their
music come and go, and with this compilation I hope to preserve some of the best that was and some of the best that will be. It’s not intended to be
an authority of what was and is cool; it’s simply a snap shot of a time lost for a memory in need of a good old thrashing!
From Velvet night came forth our torch burns eternal,
For time is but a dream and our mischeif be infernal,
Black Angels watch over neglecting the living but not the undead,
Blessed are the hallowed and gracious for their blood shall keep us fed,
Hark the electric thunder drawn like moths to a flame,
To a place of wicked wonder...and Hollywood be thy name.

Romi - Your CD is done and titled. I've got all the music done on it I'm now just finishing up the Art work. Here is your title:
DJ Raja's Greatest Hits Vol. 5 - Summertime in France.
I called it that because of your stance on the war and the fact that I believe that you align yourself with the French in your take on Iraq.
Moya, yours is done to musically. I've begun working on your artwork too. Here is your title.
DJ Raja's Greatest Hits Vol. VI - One for the Money and Two for Portugal.
Being that is where you are from I thought it fitting to use that in a small poem.
I should have the artwork done in the next couple of weeks and ready to send to you guys by the first week of May.
Doggie, your CD's are done too and I'm putting the finishing touchs. Keep a close eye on your mail box!
Now Just Breath.

HMMMM.......Romi, do you like the color blue? Cuz that's what color you may turn if you're holding your breath waiting for your disc from doggie. I
seem to recall a promise that I'd be seeing some mail coming my way as well, and, well, I'm STILL
WAITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or maybe he just doesn't love me any more
