Sisters Of Mercy - after the gig
Hey people,
Just came home from SOM gig. It’s Wednesday, 9.15 in the morning... well, I didn’t plan to go to after party but I did. Again missed lessons at my
university but who cares. It’s much better to keep on memorizing yesterday’s concert.
We came to the venue about 6.30 pm. It was quite far from center of Warsaw, the weather was terrible and when we got there we all were wet and frozen.
It was snowing and raining heavily what is unusual in the middle of April in Poland. We had to wait about an hour for opening doors so we drunk a lot
to warm up ourselves. That’s probably why I don’t remember how and when I found myself in the first row during second or third song.
There was a long intro – some sounds and lights. Then on stage appeared two guitarists. I don’t know their names but for sure must find out who
was this sexy guy who played guitar on the left side of the stage. And again long guitar part. Everybody were calling Andrew and finally he came. I
recognised first tunes of ‘Temple Of Love’ which is my favourite song. I was completly mad when I heard it! Great! Andrew’s look disappointed me
a bit but his voice recompensed this disappointment. He was dancing in his way all evening, didn’t talk at all but singing with a great power. They
are really good live!
I don’t remember all songs they sang, there were also some new ones. Neither me nor my friends did know them. They sang for sure ‘Temple Of
Love’, ‘Dominium’, ‘Alice’ – that was really cool!!! There were also ‘This Corrosion’ and ‘I Was Wrong’. Sorry, don’t remember
more, it was so exciting to be there! I wish they had sung ‘More’ which is laso one of my favourites. There three encores, during one both guitars
players were sitting on boxes and playing a beautiful ballad very softly. I’m sure I know this song but can’t find out what was it. Maybe Andie
who, as far as I know, will attend SOM gigs in London next week will tell you more.
Oh, I nearly forgotten. My friend cought a leaf or something, don’t know English name for this, which guitar players use to play their guitars.
But I must say that the lights were bad and the same about smoke – too much. I don’t know if it was fault of the venue or if of SOM. Anyway I’m
very happy and still impressed by this show. I try to put pictures I’ve taken there as soon as possible at a website and then I post a link here to
let you see them.
This week there will be one more great music feast for me, HIM’s new album. I heard their new songs during New Year’s Eve Show and must say they
sounded great. ‘Funeral Of Hearts’ has been on almost every European hitlist for last two months. The album will be on sale from April, 17th, I
guess but I’ll get it a week sooner so will be able to tell you how is it. Then... still 55 days left to Iron Maidein, 62 to MARILYN MANSON and 90
to TYPE O NEGATIVE!

The smoke is the fault of SOM. Andrew is getting older and stupid. I like him very much, but i couldn't believe what he did in the last concert he
played in Porto (Portugal). He decide that he won't like to see the people in the concert dressed in black, to see the real gothic ambient. So he
filled the Coliseu with lots of smoke that we couldn't see shit, only hear the music. He camed all dressed in white, like an angel, when he must come
like always, in black. He said that don't want any longer to have a connection with gothic music. But he ONLY plays gothic music.
But he did other shit. Refuse the first part of the concert, that was a portuguese gothic band (wich influences were precisely SOM) because they were
playing that kind of music and wearing black clothes. He must see a doctor, because his mind his already destroyed by drugs. 
But i'm glad that you have enjoy it.

I read some interviews with Andrew when he said they were no gothic. YEAH, not at all:idea:
But luckily in Poland he said nothin about wearing blac clothes and there were many gothic people. Guitar players were also in black and they all were
wearing sunglasses what always reminds me Jyrki's (69Eyes) saying :Sunglasses after dark.
Andrew wore black pants and dark green shirt and of course sunglasses after dark!
I imagineg to see the man I saw in SOM's clips! He looked good there. Now he reminded me a disco star more than a rock or gothic one.

romi, your story sounds so funny (if it wouldnt have been shocking for some black dressed fans).
what do they think are their fans (buying their records & going to their shows) like? - hip hoppers? jehovas witnesses?
oh, i heard a few songs of the new him album. all my fears that it would be as 'soft' as the last one are gone. Voice is great as always, guitar
better than ever. Great mixture of hard & soft. Those young boys just roooooooooock.
Looking very much forward to hearing all of it (or finding it on winmx...).

But he don't have to play a joke on the Goths, because were and are the Goths that give him the money and the respect. 
I know that he has a wicked sense of humor, but i didn't liked what he did in this concert.
I know and like sisters for a looooooooong time that's why i don't admit the shit that he did in this concert.

met them 3 years ago i think, in vienna before the show. for my stepdaughter's birthday i somehow organized we could go to the meet&greet backstage.
we gave ville some bottles of wine from our hometown (which he was quite pleased with & told my daughter he'd drink it while in the bath :-) and
copied paintings from my husband to lily & mige, who were quite happy they got something too, coz people would just bring presents & stuff for ville.
ville was soon surrounded by girls so my daughter had a chat with the keyboarder & i talked to the drummer, who is very nice. they were all nice &
funny - and glad they have their peace when everybody is just wanting ville :-)
for me & my taste of men he's too young, too thin and too pale
but i love the music & esp. that voice (almost but only almost as much as ian's)!:P

Yeah I know Romi. What you say is so true. I haven't seen him yet, but if he did that at the gig I went to , I'd be in tears.
Well, he's an Artist...with a very strong stubborn streak. I find that part of his charm, his spark so to speak. You are very fortunate to have been
to a gig... I however have not had the pleasure.
Next time if you do.....throw yourself on the stage, mind the lights, they will burn you, and trip him! LOL Hey it's my fantasy,...
And ask him...So Von....how do you take your coffee?
