One day Ray Manzarek found at The Doors' office a CD sent
by a Polish trumpet player and composer known as Bal. Ray
was about to record music for his movie 'Love Her Madly'
and needed someone to play trumpet parts. He called Bal
immediately and offered him collaboration. They decided to
work together as a duo called RayBal.
We all know who Ray is, but who is Bal?
He's a musician born in Stettin, Poland. At age 21 he moved
to Germany and then to the USA. He was studying hard and
playing as a side musician. Then came a time for his own
projects. By now he had released four albums but all the
time he was dreaming about playing with Ray Manzarek. In
his mind Bal heard himself playing 'Riders On The Storm'
with his idol. Finally he felt he was ready to take a first
step. He was surprised when Ray called him within two
weeks.
They changed their studio into a laboratory where they were
looking for some interesting sounds that appear after
connecting elements of jazz, electro, house, classic...
They also used computer programming to integrate Jim
Morrison's voice. It seems that Doors' fans will get
something brand new from Ray, Bal and... Jim. The album is
to come out in USA in the second part of this year.

I was there at the Phoenix show at 1:00 pm watching them
unload the tour bus. I met the official videographer for
Ian's old band the Cult, who was now working on The Doors
of the 21st Century tour. He reassured me that they are
going to video the whole tour including Europe and release
an official concert video with the entire light show!
There were at least 10 people with wands checking over
everyone at the gates! No one was getting any cameras,
camcorders or recorders in with these guys around. As a
result there were people outside holding video and regular
cameras explaining on their cell phones how they couldn't
get their equipment in. I guess you have to call someone
and cry about it when you get busted.
At about 8:10 pm The Doors hit the stage with a rather
large, bearded man Ray referred to as "The Jack Attack"
a.k.a. Jack Green, a harp player. He worked the first four
songs with a great blues harp. Ray promised he would be
back at the end on 'Maggie M'Gill.' The acoustics were a
lot better at this Phoenix show than at the Palms in Vegas
in January where I last saw The Doors perform.
Ian has REALLY loosened up, too! A big improvement! He had
longer hair, he was rolling his head around a lot, and he
jumped wildly off the drum riser to the stage several
times. He's evidently getting in touch a lot more with the
spirit of Jim Morrison.
They videotaped from the left of the stage. Oh, how I
wanted to steal their tape!!!! Shame on me--I didn't do it.
The set list included: an Intro, 'Road House Blues,' 'Break
On Through,' 'When The Music's Over,' 'Love Me Two Times,'
(the four former w/ Jack Attack on harp), then into
'Whiskey Bar,' 'Back Door Man,' 'Five To One,' 'People Are
Strange,' 'Strange Days,' 'Spanish Caravan,' 'The Ghost
Song,' 'Moonlight Drive,' 'Horse Latitudes,' 'Wild Child,'
'LA Woman,' 'Light My Fire,' 'Riders On The Storm,' 'Maggie
M'Gill' (w/ Jack Attack on harp), and a blow out 'Soul
Kitchen' for their final song!

Até esqueci de agradecer pelo cd ... duh !!! :p Obrigadão.
Esta show em Fontana foi o primeiro e dha ateh para sentir o nervosismo e a vibração dele, mas na grande maioria das musicas ele manda muito bem !!!
Light My Fire esta um pouco rápida, mas era só o começo...e que começo... :D
Moya se voce descobrir as tais passagens me avise sim ? Quem sabe eu apareça por aih também !
