The biggest sell-out of 2003...

taokow - 5-11-2003 at 06:01 PM

...Jewel!

What the hell is up with her? I thought she had artistic integrity!
See her new video for that bubble gum song "intuition"? Damn, some image consultants at the record company must of got ahold of her, but good.
She wants a piece of that Christina/Brittany demographic!
Fuckin' money turned her music and image into shit!
I mean she's hot, but she's got art/coffeehouse roots for godsake!
Ya just can't count on good music anymore!

Yea, I saw that video. She might as well shake that Fat-Ass of hers.. it may help her get a bunch of horney guys listening to her shit music.;)

Actually guys, from what I understand, it's supposed to parody the whole Brittany/Christina phenomenon. If you read the lyrics to the song, you can see what she meant. I don't think she was trying to sell out, she was just making a statement. :)

I'm just a simple girl
In a high tech digital world
I really try to understand
All the powers that rule this land
They say Miss J's big butt is boss
Kate Moss can't find a job
In a world of post modern fad
What was good now is bad

It's not hard to understand
Just follow this simple plan

Follow your heart
Your intuition
It will lead you in the right direction
Let go of your mind
Your Intuition
It's easy to find
Just follow your heart baby

You look at me
but you're not quite sure
Am I it or could you get more?
You learn cool from magazines
You learn love from Charlie Sheen

If you want me let me know
I promise I won't say no

[CHORUS REPEAT]

You got something that you want me to sell
Sell your sin. Just cash in.
You got something that you want me to tell
You'll love me. Wait and see.

If you want me
Don't play games
I promise
it won't be in vain

Yea, I kind of get that from the video, but is the song a parody too, I mean it's not her style, it's really pop. Plus, even if she is goin' with an ironic video, she's still out there shakin (and showin) T&A. She's definitely makin a lot of adolescent boys happy (and me, to be honest! ;) )
I guess I just thought she was more of a serious singer songwriter...it seems like she's trying to appeal to a wider audience, by changing her music. I love Jewel b.t.w., I had "pieces" like a year or so before it ever got any air play. I think she's a great vocalist and songwriter, truly an artist.

And as long as I have a face,., Jewel has a place to sit down,..,.

You guys are too funny! Yeah, I love her too, I have both her books as well. She says she's surprised at the huge reaction to the new video but she did feel like exploring something new, so let's hope that even though it's nice for her to show off what she's got a little, that she doesn't forget where she came from. I don't think she will. :)

i havent seen this video-i will look out for it-
but i always thought of her as kind of how shall we say, too risque--its subtle but i think she has always flaunted her sexuality.
i mean-hey-she is good-but i guess if she wants to be provocative-she wont get respect that way for sure!
